Doctrinal Statement

(as recorded in the original Certificate of Incorporation – dated August 17, 1926)

Article I.

We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three distinct personalities – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Article II.
The Bible.

We believe that the Bible IS the Word of God (not merely contains that Word) and is therefore the supreme and final authority in faith and practice.

Article III.
The Virgin Birth and Deity of Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ, who was equal with the Father in the beginning, took upon Him the form of man and was made in the likeness of sinful flesh; being conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is very man, yet very God, as stated in John 1:1-3,14

Article IV.

We believe man was created in the image of God, but sinned, thereby incurring death, both physical and spiritual; and all men are by nature and by practice sinners, only such being true children of God as have been born again of the Holy Spirit, through faith on Jesus Christ.

Article V.
Salvation in Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, as a representative and substitutionary Sacrifice; and that all who believe on Him are justified upon the ground of His shed blood.

Article VI.
The Holy Spirit.

We believe in the personality and power of the Holy Spirit; that through Him men are convicted of sin, righteousness and judgment, and are renewed after the image of the Creator; and that He is the indweller, energizer, and guide of believers, individually and as a Church.

Article VII.

We believe in the personality and power of Satan; holding him to be man’s greatest enemy. And the enemy of God and His Christ; that he is the accuser of believers, the author of all false religions, and the ruler of the forces of evil; and that he will be finally overthrown, and his ultimate end will be as set forth in Rev. 20:10

Article VIII.
Resurrection, Ascension, Rapture, Judgment

Section 1. We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord; His ascension into Heaven; and His ministry there as High Priest and Advocate.

Section 2. We believe in the bodily resurrection of believers, and the rapture of the Church, preceding the Lord’s visible return to reign.

Section 3. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the unjust, for judgment and eternal punishment.

Article IX.
Return and Reign of our Lord.

We believe in the personal, visible and premillennial return of our Lord, to usher in His Kingdom, and to reign over the nations until ‘righteousness shall cover the earth, as the waters cover the deep’.

Article X.
The Kingdom Restored to the Father.

We believe that, following His millennial reign, the Son will deliver His Kingdom to the Father, that the Father may be ‘all in all’ in the ‘New Heavens and the new earth.’

Article XI.
The Gospel.

We believe in the ‘gospel’ to be the good news of God the Father concerning His Son Jesus Christ; that it is ‘the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth’; and that believers are commissioned to preach this gospel to every creature, as ambassadors of Christ beseeching men to be reconciled to God through His Son.”
